Curtains are a very important interiors component, and I may discuss them separately in a future blog, but now I just wanna give a couple of tips on installation; these are not concrete rules to follow but rather preferences and things from my experience:
- tip#1: Always install your curtains full height, floor to ceiling, regardless of the interiors being formal or casual. There are few exceptions but only few.
- tip#2: Most interiors now come with a bulkhead behind which the top of the curtain can hide, if not then you need to worry more about how the pleating, the rail, and the sides will look like.
- tip#3: Leave enough space, if possible, on either side of the window, so that when you open the curtains the whole window will be cleared.
- tip#4: Choose a comfortable and easy mechanism for opening the curtains, whether it is manual or automatic.
- tip#5: In some cases when the window or opening is little short of the full wall, it is better to have the curtains run wall-to-wall.
